I have owned planet audio in the past and havent had any issues so I bought these, as well as 5.25 and 6.5 inch models. I got these to mount in the knee bar in my cherokee to get the external amplified feed from my CB radio. They sound great and Im sure they would for normal stereo use as well, as i have the other models hooked up and they sound great. just know where to crossover and dont treat them like a subwoofer and send a ton of bass to them. I would recommend these to anyone. would be an excellent upgrade over stock speaker any day. See my review for the 5.25 speakers. These were an acceptable replacement considering the cost savings. I did a side by side sound comparison of both speakers using my remaining non-blown factory speaker. Highs and mids were comparable using 18 watts continuous power from an Alpine CDE-102 head unit. This speaker lacked on the bass versus my factory speaker which isn't saying much either. Since the bass from my factory speakers was not that much to begin with these speakers were an acceptable replacement. The difference in bass on the rear 5.25" speakers was much more noticeable so I ended up keeping the factory speakers instead in the rear. These are a decent replacement for 4" front speakers which you only get mids and highs out of anyway but I would not replace anything larger than 4" if you are looking for bass or you will for sure need a subwoofer. The price is low enough to make them attractive on that level, at least. I was replacing 22-year-old factory speakers that had no surrounds left in a beater car, so expensive speakers just weren't warranted. Budget build! Needless to say, these sound way better than the factory speakers did! The highs are accurate and clear and the mids to lows are fairly decent for a set of 4" speakers. I didn't expect much, but these seem to be performing quite well for their price.With a high-end Alpine CD deck, time correction/crossover settings allow for fairly straightforward and easy tuning of sound from these speakers. I've only had them installed for a week so far (self-installed), so I'll have to report back after the subwoofer install and a thorough high-volume thrashing on a road trip. ;) So far so good!
